Anthony Trollope, He Knew He Was Right

Writings

There is no way of writing well and also of writing easily. (1883)

Trollope was a prolific writer, penning 47 novels, 5 collections of short stories and 5 travel books, along with uncollected stories, plays, and non-fiction articles, always keeping a close eye on his daily progress. He worked with illustrators that helped bring visual imagery to his stories; many of his fiction works were initially featured in serials and parts before being sold in book form by one of several publishers, while much of his non-fiction work was carried in three main periodicals.  As a popular literary figure Trollope faced continuous critical scrutiny, drawing his share of both enthusiasts and detractors.  Click on the titles below to explore his works.
